I have been tutoring students in mathematics since I was in high school. Once I moved on to college I continued tutoring students in high school as well as those in college. I currently tutor both science and math courses, including algebra 1 & 2, differential equations, elementary math, middle school math, pre-calculus, trigonometry, physics, multivariate calculus, arithmetic, college algebra, pre-algebra, AP calculus AB & BC, calculus 1 & 2, and various other math and science classes. My teaching style and philosophy are grounded in providing students with a solid foundation in the subject matter. This includes not only targeting the new material, but also ensuring each student has a strong grasp of the fundamentals of a subject. Without these it is often impossible to branch out into more complicated subject matter. I truly believe one of the most effective ways to teach any student is to connect with them at a personal level. To that end, during study breaks I make an effort to get to know more about each student, including their hobbies, preferences, learning style, and interests so I am able to create a more compelling learning experience for them. I've found it also helps my students find a greater level of comfort in working with me which frees them to ask for help more readily.
