Samuel Y.
Private tutor in Riverside, CA
Education
Senior CS Major at University of California, Riverside. Self taught myself a few years ago beginning with Javascript, HTML, CSS. Web Development was my first true passion and I've pivoted to another direction. I've then self taught myself C++ and Python, then pivoted from Molecular Biology Major to CS Major.
Experience
Tutored colleagues in majority of CS classes such as C++ basics and Python basics. Self studied 5 years ago so I have more experience than most students in Uni. Web dev/Flex intern in a mobile app company in San Francisco. Worked in Apple for a year. Main focus is C++, Python, Software Development as a concept, OOP. I have experience with C# through hobbyist game dev projects (unity). Currently have full time job offers for larger companies (EY, etc). I want to be a tutor because I love contributing to students and their "a-ha" moments. It's an amazing feeling I find myself every few days from debugging, and I would love to teach students best practices since I have some industrial experience working in a startup in San Francisco.

Hobbies
My hobbies truly revolve around CS. On my off-time I like to work on a large scale project I started with my friend in UMD which focuses on developing games and establishing a community with other indie game developers. Outside of that, I love to cook and play games. I try to travel as often as possible but due to COVID-19, I won't be able to take up that hobby this year. I try to pick up new perspectives with every country I visit!
